How do I clean a grey gloss dining table without leaving streaks?

A soft damp cloth and plain water does most of it, or a water-based cleaner if you need more. Work in one direction rather than circles, then go over the surface with a dry microfibre cloth while it's still slightly damp. Avoid abrasive creams, scouring pads, and anything containing bleach, all of which will dull the gloss over time.

Can I put hot dishes straight onto a high gloss table?

No. Heat can mark a gloss surface permanently, and the same goes for anything straight out of the freezer. Use trivets, coasters, and place mats as a layer in between. It's the single most useful habit to get into with a gloss table, and it takes about a week before nobody in the house has to think about it.

What's the difference between a high gloss finish and matt or satin?

High gloss is a lacquered surface polished to a mirror shine, so it reflects light and colour from around the room. Matt has no shine at all and reads flatter and more textured. Satin falls between them with a soft sheen. Gloss shows marks more readily than matt, but it also cleans up faster because nothing sinks in.

Very well, and it's one of the easier pairings to get right. Grey is cool-toned, so warm oak and walnut floors give you contrast without a clash. On grey or ash flooring, add warmth somewhere else through chairs, a rug, or curtains, otherwise the whole scheme can tip cold. A rug under the table also softens the reflection.
