Linen-Look or Bouclé?

Linen-look fabric, used on the Echo range, has a natural, slightly uneven weave with a flatter surface. It suits relaxed rooms with pale wood, plants and plain walls, and it hides small marks well because the texture breaks up the colour. If you like the idea of linen-look sofas in other sizes, the Echo range also comes as a 2 seater, 3 seater and larger 5 seater sets.

Colour matters on a sofa this size, because it will be one of the biggest blocks of colour in the room. The Echo comes in cream, green, and cream with a fine green trim, while the Drift comes in green and cream. Green is the more forgiving choice for a busy household, and cream helps a room feel brighter.

Bouclé, used on the Drift range, is woven from looped yarn, which gives it a nubbly surface that you notice as soon as you sit down. It feels cosy and adds texture to a room in its own right, so it works well against plain walls and smooth surfaces like glass or polished wood.

The two fabrics wear differently. Linen-look is the more practical choice if you have pets, because bouclé’s loops can catch on claws. Bouclé, on the other hand, gives a softer, more tactile finish. Free fabric swatches are available on the Echo range if you want to compare them in your own light.

Caring for a 4 Seater Fabric Sofa

A large fabric sofa needs a little regular care rather than a lot of effort. Vacuum it every week or so with a soft upholstery attachment to stop dust settling into the weave, and plump the cushions after use so they keep their shape. On textured fabrics, work along the direction of the weave rather than scrubbing back and forth.

For spills, blot straight away with a clean, dry cloth and work from the outside in, so the mark doesn’t spread. Always check the care label before using any cleaning product, and test it on a hidden area first. A throw over the most-used seat helps protect the fabric where it gets the most wear.

Getting the Size Right

Our current fabric 4 seaters are modular corner designs, so they need space along two walls. Measure both lengths and the depth of each side, then check that there’s room to walk past and to reach a coffee table comfortably from every seat.

Modular sections make delivery much easier, as each piece is far smaller than a one-piece sofa. However, it’s still worth measuring your doors, hallway and stairs before ordering. Our guide to making sure your new sofa will fit explains which measurements to take.

Think about the sit as well as the size. The Echo is rated soft, with deep pocket-sprung seating, a sturdy wood frame and foam cushions, so it suits a household that likes to sink in and stretch out. Our guide to firm vs soft sofas explains how different fillings feel over time.

FAQs

Is a fabric sofa a good choice for a family?

Yes. Fabric is comfortable all year, and textured weaves are forgiving of everyday marks. Regular vacuuming and prompt attention to spills keep it looking fresh. If you have young children, a throw over the most-used seats is an easy extra layer of protection.

Is bouclé hard to keep clean?

Bouclé needs gentle care because of its looped texture. Vacuum with a soft brush attachment, blot spills rather than rubbing them, and avoid anything that could snag the loops. If a loop does pull, don’t cut or tug it. Check the care label for the cleaning methods that apply.

What’s the difference between linen and linen-look?

Linen is a natural fabric made from flax. Linen-look fabric is woven to give the same relaxed, textured appearance, often with different fibres. Check each product page for the fabric details and care instructions that apply.

Can I order a fabric swatch?

Yes, free fabric swatches are available from each product page, so you can check the colour and texture in your own home before ordering.

Are your fabric 4 seater sofas modular?

Our current fabric 4 seaters are modular corner sofas. With the Echo range, the individual seats clip together to form the layout, and extra corner and armless pieces are available if you want to change it later.

Will a fabric sofa fade in sunlight?

Strong, direct sunlight can fade most upholstery over time, particularly deeper colours. If the sofa sits near a south-facing window, closing the blinds during the brightest part of the day helps protect it.

Can I return a sofa if it doesn’t suit my room?

Furniturebox offers free 30-day returns on most products, although some exclusions apply. Check the product listing and our returns page before ordering so you know what applies to your chosen sofa.
