Pantone's Mocha Mousse’ shade draws inspiration from the simple pleasures of life, such as the warmth of chocolate and coffee, embodying a sense of thoughtful indulgence and everyday luxury. Lick Paint's ‘New Nostalgia’ muted rainbow palette taps into the emotional power of colours to evoke cherished memories and a sense of cosiness, reimagining retro hues like earthy browns and plum purples for modern interiors. Meanwhile, Dulux's ‘True Joy’ shade of yellow is inspired by a global desire to break free from the mundane and embrace new beginnings with a burst of creative energy and positivity. Adding to this vibrant mix, Pinterest Predicts has highlighted that ‘cherry coded’ burgundy hues will make a bold statement in 2025. These rich, deep reds bring some drama that can be fun or sophisticated depending on how you want to dress it. Together, these 2025 themes highlight an overarching trend towards creating spaces that are aesthetically pleasing, warm and also emotionally resonant and uplifting. 2025 Interiors Trends - Colours & MaterialsHow To Style The Pantone 2025 Colour Of The Year Pantone has chosen PANTONE 17-1230 ‘Mocha Mousse’ as its 2025 Colour of the Year. This warming brown has the richness of chocolate and coffee, with Pantone saying the colour “expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence”. It’s all about sophisticated, luxury comfort that really taps into the warm neutrals that we saw coming into their own in 2024. It also speaks to the 'bare plaster pink' that has been very popular with interior designers. It has a warm red base so works well with neutrals, but be sympathetic of tones if you want to pair with blue - a dusky light blue will work, anything on the same tonal value will not.”Just A Moment…Designer Speak for Dummies: What Is Tonal Value?Tonal Value = if you took a photo on your phone of two colours next to each other and changed it to black and white, anything on the same tonal value will look the same grey, regardless of the actual colour. Darker colours recede in a space and light colours come forward, so if you have two colours the same tonal value, it can look a bit flat.(Pinterest)(Pinterest)How To Style Dulux’s 2025 Colour Of The YearDulux has chosen True Joy™, an uplifting yellow, as its Colour of the Year for 2025. This vibrant shade is designed to fill your home with optimism, pride, and an injection of colour.Inspiration photo credits: Pinterest (1) and (2)Dulux styling mood board, featuring: Bisset Off White & Wood Effect Storage TV Stand Sideboard, Nora Clear Glass, Gold & White Table Lamp, Emma 100cm Round Black Frame Wall Mirror, Teddy Arm Chair in Yellow Velvet, Svit Oak Effect Wooden Storage Bedside Table.Laura says: “I think Dulux have leaned very much towards the yellow as an uplifting, energising colour. Be aware that equally bright contrasting primary colours can look a bit like a classroom so pair with pastel-toned colours on the opposite side of the colour wheel (think dusky teals and olive greens) for a rich interior. Or add a bright yellow chair into a neutral room on the taupe/brown/cream spectrum - add lots of wood textures for a harmonious, considered palette.”How To Style Lick Paint’s 2025 Colour Palette Of The YearLick Paint’s 2025 Colour Palette of the Year is called ‘New Nostalgia’. This palette takes us on a trip down memory lane with colours that are both familiar and fresh. Featuring earthy browns, burnt oranges, brownish reds, and plum purples, these shades evoke a sense of comfort and warmth. This selection will compliment all the furniture trends coming through for 2025. A softer, Scandi-inspired airy take on a 70s revival palette, with pastels still being relevant. So, you could pick any of those colours to work with either the neutrals or some bold colour pops, especially with a few vintage design nods.”The Furniturebox 2025 Colour PaletteAs part of our planning for new products, we wanted to curate a cohesive colour palette for 2025. This draws on all the trends we’ve already discussed and what we know our customers love. The Furniturebox 2025 Colour PaletteLaura says: “We know that neutrals and beiges have been a popular alternative to greys, but a lot of our customers still have the grey hangover and it’s a big, expensive project to fully re-decorate and buy new. So, this palette is designed to sit alongside the greys and neutrals, but add the warmth needed to make cosy and inviting spaces, and elevate a home to capture this year’s décor themes. There is still a big focus on bringing in nature, so the greens speak to that, and the plum is a take on the warm browns and earthy tones we’ve already talked about above. I designed this palette so that all of our incoming products speak to each other and can be mixed and matched and still all look like they belong together. You could buy any of the our new products and they’ll work with anything else in the whole collection. Beyond new products for us, this palette can also help customers select paint and décor schemes that are on trend but will work nicely with things they might already have. We’re all about versatility and making sustainable design choices that can be adapted.”We'd love to see how you incorporate these trending colours this year!
