They're a national charity that offers a combination of care, accommodation, and support for adults with learning disabilities. The incredible work they do is very close to our hearts, so we’re always happy to help them however we can. We are thrilled to announce that Furniturebox UK has committed to covering the start-up costs for employing a full-time Special Educational Needs teacher! The on-going Coronavirus crisis has devastated all of us, especially our more vulnerable members of society. Many of Field Lane's clients have had their vital education and life-skills development interrupted by the lockdowns. Those that usually attend colleges or day centres haven't been able to. Field Lane is dedicated to providing the best for its clients. Employing an SEN teacher will let these educational services still reach those who really benefit from them. This teacher will lead educational activities and therapeutic sessions, so they'll work across all eight of Field Lane's Surrey projects. That's around 50 clients. Why It Matters To UsFurniturebox UK is covering the start-up costs for hiring a specialist teacher over the next 2 years because we know the service, care and development opportunities this offers for their clients will be huge. Our founders Montague George and Dan Beckles support Field Lane because they've already seen for themselves the positive impacts the charity has on so many lives.Dan says: “We started our business at the age of 18, and know how hard it can be to get a head start in life. It really makes us appreciate the work Field Lane does to support vulnerable people. Field Lane's work helps people tackle some big challenges and enable them to live more stable, independent lives. Field Lane quite literally changes lives. Being able to be a part of such a wonderful charity is an honour.”Dan Beckles, Furniturebox UK Founder, 2021This is the first time that Field Lane has employed a qualified SEN teacher, and we're delighted to help make this happen.
